NFL Football Sheets
The History of NFLFS
Over a decade ago, Matthew Mayan, the godfather, founded NFL Football Sheets. It started as a local family pool and still today the organization is still ran the same way, but has expanded on to the internet and is spreading along the Eastern shore. In 2000, Matt retired and handed the business over to fellow family members James and Jake Mayan, who still run it today. NFLFS has been running strong for the past several seasons and this year, the eleventh anniversary, looks to be the biggest season yet.
The 1998-1999 football season brought a dramatic Super Bowl XXXIII win to the Denver Broncos, and brought the first ever NFLFS Championship, the Dan Marino Award, to Dan Mayan Junior. The following year Dan Mayan Junior's father won the title. Dan Mayan Senior. Today, along with Jake and James Mayan, Senior is one of the three two-time champions. The following season, the 2000-2001 season was when the organization was handed over to James and Jake Mayan. That year James Mayan won his first of two championships. The following season was the first ever non-Mayan to win the title, that being the living legend himself, Jimmy Joe "The Irish Executioner" Kelly. The next season, the 2003-2004 season was the first season where NFLFS preserved the statistics. Here is the complete list of previous champions and the year they won. Click on each individual year for a summary of that year, and each individual player for their personal player profile page.
After ten seasons, we thought it was time to make the NFL Football Sheets Hall of Fame. The experts voted in, and the first to members to be inducted into the HOF were Jim Kelly and Dan Mayan Senior. Congratulations to both men!
