Rookie of the Year
One of the most prestigious awards here at NFLFS (at least for rookies) is the Rookie of the Year (ROTY) honors. These rookies are thrown into the woods, often times not knowing what to expect. It can be very intimidating knowing your up against season veterans who will take advantage of any wrong pick you make. Although there is no award for winning ROTY honors, it sure brings a hell of a lot of pride.
The first year NFLFS kept statistics, there was a very heated race between Eric Mayan and Kevin Hamilton. These two men despised each other, shifting places on the leader board weekly. Although never convicted, it was rumored back in 2003 that Kevin's tires were slashed by none other than his archenemies Eric Mayan. Kevin Hamilton ended up edging Eric out with a great finish to the season, only missing the DMA by two games. Even after several years, there is still tension between the two men. The following year, history was made. Arguably the biggest sign out of free-agency in the history of NFLFS, Anthony Nicol splurged onto the scene. There was no disappointment as he not only won ROTY honors, but also became the first rookie to win the DMA. The following year, ROTY year winner Clinton made a great run for the DMA with 174 wins. 174 wins usually takes home a DMA in a given year, but his season was overshadowed by Dan Mayan Senior's monstrous return to the league. The 2006-2007 season's ROTY was Joe Mayan. He only finished 6 games out of first place, but would end up retiring after that season. No ROTY year honors were given out for the 2007-2008 season.
